New – Get an RSS feed for FCCDOC on your computer You can now use the power of RSS to keep up to date with a list of upcoming events at Fort Smith First Christian Church, when you subscribe (no fee) to the RSS feed using Outlook, a Web browser, or a favorite feed reader, such as Google Reader. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a web feed used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video. The on-line calendar at FCCDOC can be added as well. If you think you are new to RSS, you may not be aware that
you are already using it. Often the
home page supplied by Yahoo or Google has a revolving news headline that is an
RSS feed. Look for a button that
says “Add Content” or “Add Stuff” to your home page and then look for an
icon
To sign up for the FCCDOC Calendar feed, you will need to use either Internet Explorer or Foxfire to get started. You can then use other browsers such as Google Chrome once it is installed. 1.
Start
by going to our calendar site http://fccdoc.org
and click on Calendar 2.
Click
the RSS icon

A
small pop-up window opens showing the number of days to display in the feed. The
default is 7. Change the number if you prefer a different number of days. 4.
Click
the “Get Feed” link. 5.
The
RSS feed opens in another browser tab (or window), and displays a list of events
for the number of days you specified. 6.
At
the top of the screen is an option to subscribe to the calendar RSS feed. A
drop-down menu lists the viewing applications available to you. (For example,
Microsoft Outlook, Google, My Yahoo, etc. Application availability may vary.)
Select an application. 7.
Click
the “Subscribe Now” button. 8.
You
can now view the calendar RSS feed using the application you selected. (NOTE:
Some applications may require additional steps. Follow that program’s onscreen
instructions.) To subscribe
using more than one program, simply repeat the steps and choose a different
application in Step 6. You might have to copy the actual link that opens up in the browser after
step 5 and paste it into your RSS reader to make it work correctly.
Once installed, you will always be up to date with Fort Smith FCCDOC.
